PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In this project We want to host one european volunteer in Portugalete, (Euskadi), from 1st of march to 31th of december 2020. The main objectives of the project within the entity’s strategy for the development of European programs for young people in the municipality are: – To Promote and contribute to the value of the youth volunteering in the municipality – To offer the opportunities of the European Solidarity Corps program to the youth of the municipality in all areas – To acquire new volunteer management skills, which is the cornerstone of the entity – Improve the quality of the services and proposals directed at our member groups and the community in general With the PORTUGALETE– EUROPEAN VOLUNTEERING 2020 project, we pretend that the WELCOME VOLUNTEER improves his personal skills, broadens his knowledge in projects and youth volunteer activities as well as the management and support of volunteers.

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

Type of Accomodation Single room in a rented apartment with shared bathroom. The apartment is shared with other European volunteers and participants of other projects of the organization, (electricity, heating, Wi-Fi and water difusionincluded). Local transportation Metro and bus monthly-pass for local transport (70 journeys/month). Another information Local Sports Centre free access: swimming pool, gym and other facilities

TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT

– Arrival training (3-4 days) in order to introduce the volunteer in the city and the project. – Mentoring meetings every 2 or 3 weeks, (minimum one per month), in order to follow the experience and learning of the volunteer. – Mentor available by phone and WhatsApp in case of necessity. – Mentoring methods based in non-formal education and informal meetings. – Regular OLS (Online Linguistic Support) Training according to the ESC projects

VOLUNTEER PROFILE

– EU resident – Experience and/or motivation to work with children, adolescents and youth through socio-educational programs and Educational Leisure Time. – Age between 20 and 30 years old. It would be valorated: – Ability to communicate in English and/or Spanish will be valued (minimum level required to communicate with staff, participants and local volunteers) – Previous experience as a volunteer or as a participant in leisure/skating groups or in socio-educational programmes is an advantage. – Previous experience or knowledge of European programmes will be valued: Erasmus+.
